Guitar Surgery

Surgery Time!

1. The Headstock

The focal point of the tuning system. All of the 6 strings are attached to the headlock. With out the headlock = no use guitar. Usually, if the guitar has a brand, the brand is labelled right at the open area at the top of the headlock.

2. Tuner

There is a tuner for each string. They look like little nobs that you twist to tone the guitar for the correct pitch. The strings of the guitar wraps around it for tightness, tone and stable. Tip: Be very careful when you are holding the guitar because the tuner could be only 2 millimetres off and your sound could go from a G to an A

3. Nut

The nut is that piece of plastic that holds the positions of each string. Without the nut, your guitar can't get tuned no matter what.

4. Frets

The fret is the medal mark at each section down the bridge. It is used to mark the position of the music when playing.

(The medal line that sections each bar)

5. Fretboard

Basically, it is the board in between each sectioned fret that you press on to play. Just in case if you didn't know, you play on the fret board, not the fret. (The brown board at the back.)

6. Strings

The 6 lives of the guitar. The string vibrates after pluck or strum which then echo through the sound hole to make sound!

7. Pick Guard

A guard that protects your guitar from any finger scratches. When I was younger, I had a black guitar, with a black pick guard. So I got scared because I thought it was a scratch mark that popped out. Turns out, it was to prevent scratch marks. I almost cried!

8. Soundboard
The acoustic guitar soundboard is the top piece of wood on the main body. The sound hole is cut into it. There are no sound boards for the electric guitar.

9. Pick-Ups

The Pick-ups transfer the string sound from the guitar to the amplifier by way of an electric lead. They are like little microphones.
Cool FACT: Did you know that you can in talk into a guitar pick-up and your voice will be broadcast through the amp!

The bridge is used to adjust the pitch, harmonics and string height. Electric and Acoustic guitar bridge are different!

Version Explanatory

Gibson Les Paul ; Gibson SG ; Gibson EDS-1275 ;  Flying V; Gibson Custom; and Gibson Acoustic Guitars.

Starting from ''Gibson Les Paul''
: In 1952, The Gibson Les Paul was revealed. ) The Les Paul was the very first hard solid body electric guitar made by the Gibson company. Gibson Les Paul was born when the Gibson Guitar Corporation and Les Paul join together. I wonder how they got the name? Most of the  Les Paul guitars are designed with mahogany body guitars and along with two hum bucker pick-ups, and lastly,a fixed-bridge tail piece. Les Paul version is most commonly bought because of it's wonderful tune and simple curves on out looks. ( Btw, if you are wondering what Les Paul is...---> Les Paul is jazz
guitarist / electronics inventor. The Gibson Guitar Cooperation decided to buy Les Paul into the company as a consultant.) That is how Gibson Les Paul came to life! *Cheers!*

Okay, Moving on to ''Gibson SG''
: In 1961, The Gibson SG came to life!!!!! The SG was actually a model of the Gibson Les Paul.Since the SG was just a model of the original Les Paul, most of the parts are similar. The main differences only occurred is the outline of the body of the 2 version. Mr. Lester William Polsfuss ( aka founder of Les Paul) dislike the model version of the original Les Paul and asked to erase his name under the model. In the end, It was just called the Gibson SG.

COOL FACT ---> Did you know that America's most cruel and popular judge Simon Cowell has a red Gibson SG guitar?

The ''Gibson EDS-1275''
: In 1958, the Gibson EDS-1275 was invented. The Gibson EDS-1275 is a double neck guitar! " 2 NECKS!!! A normal guitar has 6 strings but this guitar has 12.  Imagine playing a 12 stringed guitar, you got to have some serious skills! The  Gibson EDS-1275 is basically a SG guitar with 2 necks. Btw, you don't need 4 hands to play this.

The ''Gibson Flying V'
:In 1957, the Gibson Flying V went on the market. Why is it called the ''Flying V?'' Well the body is literally shaped in the letter ''V'' . Gibson company wanted a more advance view of its guitars for buyers. Ever watch the movie ''BandSlam?'' Vanessa Hudgens role play as Sam, which who plays the Flying V in the movie. (Pretty cool eh?)

The ''Gibson Acoustic''
: Yes, not just electric guitars, the Gibson company also sells acoustic guitars! The Humming Bird is one of the most  invest type for Gibson acoustic guitars. No... it is not actually a humming bird, but the sweet tones and the attractive design makes it comparable for an actual humming bird!

The Gibson CUSTOM!!!

: Basically, you have a Gibson guitar, you go to a custom store like Long And Mcquade, you pay a bunch of bills and BA-BAM! There's your custom guitar! But just saying, if you don't have a couple of thousand bucks in your pocket, keep dreaming of having a custom gibson.

Now that I am finished my so so logic about guitars, which one would you buy if you could afford?

|Links will be posted later on for different types of Gibson Guitars|

Number 1

When we talk about guitars, the cost occurs. No branded guitars are cheaper than branded. guitars could go from a cheap $90 all the way up to more than $5000 dollars! Of course that depends on the brand, the quality and quantity.

Let me show you the most outstanding Brand people voted for as number 1 :

#1 Gibson

The most popluar and expensive guitar brand ever made - at least in the 21st century.  The Gibson Guitar Corporation is a Nashville, Tennessee-based guitar and instrument manufacturer. It was founded in 1902 in Kalamazoo, Michigan by Orville Gibsonas The Gibson Mandolin-Guitar . All that I know most of the Gibson guitars are at least over $500. Custom made Gibson guitars can go over the price of $5000.

Why so outstanding and expensive? Well of course they are selling by their brand, but also they are great because it is hand madeThey were made with precision and not mass produced by automated processes. They have the correct combination of neck, fret and body woods. Not to mention the best quality electronics.

Look at this mind blowing blue Gibson guitar!
